The majority of work for More Able Pupils takes place in the classroom and involves extending pupils and encouraging them to make the most of every task. This means encouraging them to think differently about how they answer questions. Through the critical thinking programme, we work through the analysis of sources, problem-solving scenarios and pupils are encouraged to think about important global and ethical issues. In addition over the past two years we have given pupils who are MAT the opportunity to spend time as small groups working alongside a Cambridge University graduate to develop their thinking skills further. In the coming year, MAT pupils will be provided with a mentoring programme which will mean they have time to work with the MAT Coordinator to develop their skills further and to hear about opportunities that are available.
