Her Name Was October

October still feels like your name when it reaches that
date.
I remember, I remember you being my everything without
even having to try.
You left on the day you arrived, like it was already planned
that way.
Your existence slipped through our fingers,
None of us realising you were gone until the silence told
us.
You were the reason I stayed.
You didn't take the pain away, just numbed it until you
couldn't anymore,
And that's what made it special.
I never knew how someone,
Someone with a bright mind and a gentle, caring soul,
Could disappear so quickly.
You were the definition of a hero.
Not healing yourself, but everyone around you, the way
only you could.
Now the silence is different.
Not a peaceful silence, but one that carries your existence
around every corner we turn.
Maybe love wasn't meant to stay.
Maybe it was meant to show us how months can shape us
and wait for us
At the moment we need them most.

Bright Light Sky

Morning came slow and the sun spilt out,
Golden light all over the place, like someone painted it
there.
Favourite shades; it feels like magic, honestly,
But it feels like it was going to last for a lifetime.
We drank the ocean blue sky,
With clouds shaped like a bunny or a dragon.
What a wonderful time to enjoy.

Going on family trips to the beach,
Burying a sibling in the sand,
Running to the water like no tomorrow,
As if it was going to disappear,
Building the most golden sandcastle,
Getting sunburned,
Parents calling you back to put some sunscreen on and
saying you're not burned,
Rushing to go back playing,
Going home full of sand,
Absolutely no energy left,
Asking your parents when we can go again,
Falling asleep three hours later after being home from the
beach.
