Past Pupil Profile - Connor Strange

Connor Strange, a former student of Ysgol Dyffryn Aman (2006-2011), has built an impressive career in the live events and broadcast industry. With over six years of experience across technical theatre, live production, and broadcast, Connor has developed expertise in camera operation, sound, lighting, and technical stage management, regularly working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
His work has been recognised with a Production Futures Breakthrough Talent Award for Live Event Newcomer of the Year and a Wales Prestige Award for Event Production Service of the Year (2025/2026). He is also a member of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) Wales.

Since June last year, Connor has worked as a Freelance Technical Assistant with BBC Wales, contributing to major national and international broadcasts. His credits include the 2026 Guinness Men’s Six Nations Championship for BBC Sport, supporting fixtures such as Wales vs France, Wales vs Scotland, and Wales vs Italy from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

His work has included rigging and de-rigging broadcast equipment, supporting BBC Vision engineers, and ensuring smooth on-site operations. During the Scotland match, he worked pitchside, ensuring broadcast talent could view the live feed via three high-definition monitors. Connor has also contributed to Wales vs Italy in the UEFA Women’s League for BBC Sport and Dartiau 6 Gwlad / Six Nations Cup Darts, working with BBC Wales, Media Atom, and S4C.

Beyond the BBC, Connor has built a diverse portfolio, collaborating with companies such as Timeline Television, Sky Sports, Mark Jermin Stage School, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) - the global motorsport governing body, Esports Wales, and Live Nation UK & Ireland. Working with these prestigious companies, he has contributed in multiple capacities, demonstrating adaptability, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality productions.

Connor continues to grow his portfolio across live production and broadcast, combining technical knowledge with a proactive approach and a passion for excellence. He is proud to represent Ysgol Dyffryn Aman and regularly returns to share his journey, offering students insight into the hands-on experience, determination, and opportunities that helped him launch his career.
